Mr. Hackett is a partner at Riverstone. Prior to joining Riverstone in 2013, Mr. Hackett served as the Chairman of the Board from 2006 to 2013 and the Chief Executive Officer from 2003 to 2012 of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Before joining Anadarko, Mr. Hackett served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Devon Energy Corporation, following its merger with Ocean Energy, where he had served as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Hackett has held senior positions at Seagull, Duke Energy, and Pan Energy. He also held positions in engineering, finance and marketing in the midstream, oil field services, and power sectors of the energy industry. Mr. Hackett serves on the Board of Directors of Enterprise Products Holdings, LLC, Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR), National Oilwell Varco, Inc. (NYSE: NOV), Sierra Oil and Gas and Talen Energy Corporation and Crimson Resources. Mr. Hackett is a former Chairman of the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Mr. Hackett received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois in 1975 and an MBA and MTS from Harvard Business School in 1979 and 2016, respectively.
Mr. Chappelle previously served as the President, CEO and director of Alta Mesa since November 2004. Mr. Chappelle has over 30 years of experience in field operations, engineering, management, marketing and trading, acquisitions and divestitures and field re-development. He has worked for Louisiana Land & Exploration Company, Burlington Resources, Southern Company and Mirant. Mr. Chappelle retired as a Commander from the U.S. Navy Reserve. He has a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from Auburn University and a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Chappelle’s experience as Alta Mesa’s Chief Executive Officer since 2004 and over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry uniquely qualify him to serve on our board of directors.
Mr. Ellis founded Alta Mesa in 1987 after beginning his career with Amoco and previously served as Alta Mesa’s Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, as well as Vice President of Engineering. Mr. Ellis managed all day-to-day engineering and field operations of Alta Mesa. He built Alta Mesa’s asset base by starting with small earn-in exploitation projects, then progressively grew Alta Mesa with successive acquisitions of fields from major oil companies and consistent success in exploration and development drilling. He has over 30 years’ experience in management, engineering, exploration and acquisitions and divestitures. Mr. Ellis holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University. Because of his broad knowledge of, and experience with, oil and gas exploration and production, we believe Mr. Ellis is well qualified to serve on our board of directors.
Mr. Bourque joined Alta Mesa as a field engineer in 2007 and has since progressed through several roles to the position of Vice President of Mid-Continent Operations in 2012 when we began our STACK horizontal drilling program. Mr. Bourque has more than 10 years of E&P operational experience with Alta Mesa as well as more than 10 years of experience as the owner of his own company. Mr. Bourque has led the growth of our mid-continent drilling and production operations as we expanded our presence in Oklahoma.
Mr. Cole currently serves in the position of Vice President, Chief Technical Officer for Alta Mesa. Mr. Cole has over 25 years' of extensive domestic and international experience in well completion, and well stimulation design and execution. He started his career with Dowell Schlumberger as a Field Engineer and served in numerous increasingly responsible positions in the areas of field operations, engineering and management. Mr. Cole earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College in Ohio.
Prior to joining Kingfisher Midstream, LLC Mr. Collins served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the general partner of Western Gas Partners. He previously served as Director of Midstream Engineering for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, during which time he was responsible for the engineering and construction of midstream infrastructure for Anadarko and Western Gas. He joined the Anadarko midstream organization in 2010, where he led commercial development activities in the Eagle Ford shale, and was promoted to General Manager, with commercial responsibilities for midstream assets located in Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania. After joining Anadarko in 2003, Mr. Collins also held positions of increasing responsibility in Treasury and Corporate Development. Mr. Collins holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration from Rice University.
Mr. Cowand joined Alta Mesa in February of 2011 and currently serves in the position of Vice President of Acquisitions and Divestitures. Mr. Cowand has over 35 years of industry experience including land management, international negotiation, and A&D/M&A project management. Mr. Cowand spent a large portion of his career with Samedan Oil Corporation (now Noble Energy, Inc.) where he held various positions of increasing responsibility in the Land Department and Corporate International Division. Mr. Cowand has also held various management positions with Plains Exploration and Production Company and Tecpetrol USA, Inc. Mr. Cowand earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University.
Mr. Grandt joined the Alta Mesa team in 2018. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Grandt spent 5 years at Goldman Sachs & Co. where he was a member of the Global Natural Resources Investment Banking group. In that role, he worked with key clients across the energy sector on strategic M&A, shareholder activism defense and capital markets transactions. Mr. Grandt started his career at Citigroup, spending the majority of his time there in the Energy Corporate and Investment Banking group. Mr. Grandt earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University.
Mr. McCabe, our Chief Financial Officer, joined Alta Mesa in September 2006. Mr. McCabe has over 25 years of corporate finance experience, with a focus on the energy industry. He has served in senior positions with Bank of Tokyo, Bank of New England, and Key Bank.Mr. McCabe holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics from Bridgewater State University, a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from Pace University.
Mr. McClure joined the Alta Mesa team in 2010 as the South Louisiana Production Manager and now serves as Vice President, Facilities and Midstream. Mr. McClure has over 15 years' experience in onshore and offshore operations and facilities engineering. Mr. McClure started his career with ExxonMobil where he held positions of increasing responsibility in offshore, subsea, and pipeline engineering, operations, and management. Mr. McClure also worked for Tetra Technologies and as a consultant on various deep-water projects. Mr. McClure earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University.
Mr. Murrell has served as our Vice President, Land and Business Development since 2006. Mr. Murrell has over 30 years of experience in Gulf Coast leasing, exploration and development programs, contract management and acquisitions and divestitures. He created a structured land management system for Alta Mesa, and built a team of lease analysts, landmen, and field representatives that has facilitated our company’s growth. Mr. Murrell earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Oklahoma.
Mr. Smith has over 35 years of accounting experience, primarily in the energy industry. Mr. Smith began working for Alta Mesa in 2008 as the Controller and was promoted to Chief Accounting Officer in 2015. Mr. Smith has served in numerous senior level management positions including positions with Calpine Corporation and Mariner Energy. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Robert Morris University, an MBA in Finance from the University of Houston and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Mr. Turner has served as Vice President of Corporate Development at Alta Mesa since 2013. Mr. Turner has over 30 years of industry experience including various operations, reservoir engineering and managerial roles with Sun Oil, Santa Fe Minerals, Fina Oil & Chemical, Total, Newfield Exploration and Quantum Resources. Mr. Turner earned is Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas and an MBA in Finance from Oklahoma City University.
Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Warnica served as Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Marathon Oil Corporation. She previously served as Group Counsel and Assistant Secretary of Marathon Oil. Prior to Marathon Oil, Ms. Warnica served as Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Freeport-McMoRan Oil & Gas. She started her career at Andrews Kurth LLP where she practiced corporate and securities law representing a variety of clients in numerous transactional, securities and corporate governance matters. Ms. Warnica has a Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and earned her J.D. from the University Texas School of Law.
